This Strategic Plan outlines five objectives of NHMRC over a three year period. These include raising the standard of public health in Australia and developing consistent standards, fostering relevant research and training and more.
The Plan also outlines 10 major health issues NHMRC focused on over the same three year period.

NHMRC will support the improvement of Australia’s health by identifying and supporting the highest quality research and researchers; by fostering the translation of research into improved health care; by developing high quality evidence-based clinical practice and public health advice and guidelines; and by setting high ethical standards for health and medical research in Australia.
As required by the National Health and Medical Research Act, we have identified the major health issues that will be the subject of special consideration by NHMRC over the next three years.
