Endometriosis affects one in ten women worldwide.
Professor Caroline Gargett has dedicated her life to women’s health; investigating endometrial stem cells—part of the lining of the uterus—to try to understand at the cellular level what causes endometriosis. She shares her research.
‘I think the peer-review, investigator-driven research is the best type of research that will benefit the community the most through the translation of discoveries into the clinic,’ she said.
‘I think Australia-wide we can all work towards increasing our knowledge and understanding of endometriosis to develop new treatments.’
