Part 2 of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 establishes the Information Publication Scheme (IPS) for Australian Government agencies subject to the Act. The IPS requires agencies to publish a broad range of information on their websites and to list certain documents that are not available online with detail of how they can be accessed.
Information required to be published is indexed from this central IPS entry point.
Information on requesting access to other information the NHMRC holds, through a Freedom of Information request, can be found on Freedom of Information.
Information that we have released under Freedom of Information requests is available on FOI Disclosure Log.
Other than its functions as set out in the NHMRC Act, as a statutory authority NHMRC is also bound by the Public Service Act 1999, the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013, and other legislation and regulations as determined by the Public Service Commission (www.apsc.gov.au), including the APS Values and Code of Conduct.
The NHMRC is dedicated to ensuring that the Australian community has the best opportunity to participate in developing NHMRC health advice, advice on ethical behaviour in health care and the conduct of medical research. A public consultation strategy is an important part of any NHMRC recommendation or guideline development process. All NHMRC public consultations can be found on our public consultation website:
Where the NHMRC identifies information routinely requested and released in response to FOI requests, we will actively release that information through our IPS.
Some of this information may already be available on the FOI Disclosure Log.
NHMRC’s Freedom of Information Officer can be contacted about access to the agency’s information or documents under the FOI Act, including information about the IPS.
We invite you to provide comments on our Information Publication Scheme entry, particularly in relation to any documents that appear not to be discoverable, understandable or machine-readable. See contact us for more information.
If you would like to make a complaint about NHMRC’s Information Publication Scheme this can also be done through the contact us page. Please see NHMRC’s Complaints Policy for further information about NHMRC’s complaints process.
If you wish to have access to any of the documents listed in Table 1, please contact us.
