Through accreditation, the Research Translation Centres are recognised for their leadership and excellence in research, translation, collaboration, and the training of health professionals and other end-users in an evidence-based environment.
NHMRC accreditation process
NHMRC accreditation is valid for up to 5 years.
To be accredited as a Research Translation Centre, interested groups must be an established collaboration and meet assessment criteria, including evidence of what it has achieved, beyond the achievement of its individual partners.
Groups are not accredited on the basis of future plans.
Accreditation follows an application process via an open call for submissions. There is no competition between peers and applications are assessed by an expert panel of peer reviewers. Accreditation is based on meeting the requirements and assessment criteria to an appropriate standard of excellence.
Application requirements from the 2021 Call for submissions for accreditation are available in the downloads section below.
Reporting requirements
NHMRC-accredited Research Translation Centres are required to report periodically to NHMRC on their performance. Primarily, the reporting requirements relate to centre achievements and progress in relation to its stated activities and desired impacts.
Case studies from the most recent submissions are available from the Impact and outcomes tab.
Timeline for next accreditation
There are currently no opportunities to apply for Research Translation Centre accreditation.
The next accreditation round is planned for mid-2027, to align with the 5-year accreditation period.
