The twenty third meeting of the National Health and Medical Research Council’s (NHMRC) Dietary Guidelines Expert Committee (Expert Committee) was held across 2 days in March 2026 in Canberra, ACT. 

Evidence to inform the Australian Dietary Guidelines

The Expert Committee:

  • drafted evidence summary statements, using Evidence Summary Profile Tables and Evidence-to-Decision (EtD) frameworks, for the prioritised research questions in the pregnant/breastfeeding, children/adolescents, adult and older adults populations  
  • drafted evidence summary statements, using an adopt/adapt approach for topics not requiring a full evidence update
  • commenced drafting recommendations, including providing advice on guideline structure.
