The thirteenth meeting of the National Health and Medical Research Council’s (NHMRC) Dietary Guidelines Expert Committee (Expert Committee) was held in February 2025 by videoconference.
Evidence to inform the Australian Dietary Guidelines
The Expert Committee discussed selected systematic reviews where multiple reviews answer the same research question. Members discussed how these systematic reviews could be prioritised for progression to evidence extraction. Members agreed to complete this activity out of session.
Members discussed prioritisation of cardiovascular outcomes to assist with evidence extraction using the approach outlined in the Evidence Review Strategy. Members agreed to continue discussion out of session.
Members discussed weight and how it can be associated with adverse events in older adults. Members noted new evidence emerging in the area of weight and the diagnosis of overweight and obesity.

The next Expert Committee meeting is planned for Quarter 2 2025.
