Draft Information Paper on Health Effects of Water Fluoridation

Public consultation on the draft Information Paper: Effects of water fluoridation on dental and other health outcomes is now open.

NHMRC Joint Grant call with A*STAR, Singapore – opening early 2017

The Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) Singapore and NHMRC will run a joint call for research with a focus on molecular mechanisms of metabolic diseases characterised by high blood pressure, insulin resistance, high cholesterol or unhealthy weight gain/retention related to obesity.

Proposals must involve a genuine collaboration involving at least one research team each from Singapore and Australia. Applications will open early 2017. NHMRC will advise through Tracker when further information is available on the NHMRC website.

NAFOSTED-NHMRC networking symposium for health and medical researchers – registrations closing

The call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for Australian Researchers to attend the NAFOSTED-NHMRC networking symposium for health and medical researchers in Vietnam has been extended and will close on 3 October 2016.

Development Grants: 2017 Round opening in November

2017 Development Grants round for funding commencing in 2018 will open for applications on 16 November 2016. All applications must be submitted on-line through RGMS by 1 February 2017.

TCR Online Pathway

We’ve created an online pathway for community and professional groups to submit their ideas for targeted health research funding. The online pathway is open for submissions all year with proposals reviewed bi-annually.

Eligible proposals will be prioritised and recommendations will be sent to the NHMRC Research Committee for consideration.

Nominate to participate in expert review panels for 2017 application rounds

Researchers are invited to nominate themselves to be considered for appointment to an NHMRC expert review panel(s) through RGMS. Nominations will close Friday 28 October 2016, noting that RGMS will be unavailable from 10 October 2016 to 16 October 2016 inclusive because of an upgrade to the underlying software.

A guide to assist researchers in determining the most appropriate funding scheme(s) to which they might contribute their expertise and experience is available online with instructions on how to nominate within RGMS.

On 22 September 2016, Research Committee met to discuss funding recommendations for:

  • BRAIN Initiative
  • 2016 Project Grants

The Committee also considered the NHMRC Partnership Centre External Evaluation. Research Committee will next meet on 27-28 October 2016.

5th Annual NHMRC Symposium on Research Translation

The Symposium will be held in Melbourne on 23 November 2016. A detailed program, along with registration details and plenary speaker profiles are now online.
