RGMS outage Monday 10 October – Sunday 16 October 2016

NHMRC’s Research Grants Management System (RGMS) will be offline from Monday 10 October to Sunday 16 October 2016 inclusive to perform essential system maintenance.

Users will not be able to access RGMS for the duration of the outage.

5th Annual NHMRC Symposium on Research Translation – Early bird rate closes soon

The deadline for early bird registrations for the symposium is 23 September 2016. The symposium will be held in Melbourne on 23 November 2016. A detailed program, along with registration details and plenary speaker profiles are now online.

NHMRC Indigenous Internship Program 2016-2017

Each year the NHMRC offers opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students enrolled in an undergraduate or Masters degree in a health or medical research related field to take up an internship in the agency.

The NHMRC’s Indigenous Internship Program provides a wide range of opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to gain insight into the work of the NHMRC, as well as to enhance their educational experience through practical work experience.

Our Indigenous Internship Program takes place between November and February each year.  Applications for the 2016-2017 Indigenous Internship Program close on 1 October 2016.

NAFOSTED-NHMRC networking symposium for health and medical researchers

The National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (NAFOSTED) and NHMRC are holding a joint symposium in Hanoi, Vietnam on 29-30 November 2016.

NHMRC is calling for abstracts from Australian researchers to present at the symposium on research relating to one or more of the symposium’s themes. NHMRC will cover the attendance costs of speakers where abstracts are accepted.

NHMRC-NIH BRAIN Initiative collaboration

NHMRC is considering contributing funds to Australian researchers in 2017 to participate in select funding opportunities under the NIH BRAIN Initiative.

Update on Project Grants GRPs

  • Six weeks of GRPs have concluded with thirty eight panels discussing over 2,000 applications. Following Ministerial approval these outcomes are expected to be announced in mid-October.
  • RAOs will also have access to their Institution’s list of NFFC’d applications in RGMS from today.  Only NFFC’d applicants will receive the RGMS notification.

Development Grants 2017: Early Self-Nominations

NHMRC’s Development Grants Scheme is seeking early self-nominations to participate as either a scientific or commercial assessor in the 2017 Peer Review Round. The Development Grant scheme opens on 16 November 2016 with peer review meetings scheduled for May 2017.

TCR online pathway

NHMRC has created an online pathway for community and professional groups to submit their ideas for targeted health research funding. The online pathway is open for submissions all year with proposals being reviewed bi-annually.
