NHMRC convened a workshop of key stakeholders on 24 November 2015 to discuss implementation plans for the programme, including alignment with existing Australian Government tropical health programs.
The key objectives of the workshop were to identify:
- strengths and challenges in tropical health research in Northern Australia;
- significant gaps, opportunities and health policy priorities in Northern Australia tropical disease research; and
- the scope for the new Northern Australia Tropical Disease Collaborative Research Programme (the Programme).
The outcomes of the workshop will assist in developing the Programme guidelines, to ensure it complements existing measures and target gaps and priorities in tropical disease research.
