Synopsis

On 27 April 2012 the Chief Executive Officer of the NHMRC approved the evidence-based Guidelines for the management of absolute cardiovascular disease risk, developed by the National Vascular Disease Prevention Alliance.

The guidelines are aimed at general practitioners, Indigenous health workers and other primary health care professionals to assist them in assessing and managing the absolute risk of cardiovascular disease in adults who are aged over 45 years (35 years for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adults) without known cardiovascular disease.
