Grants funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) has established an arrangement with NHMRC for an application and assessment process that will enable applicants to apply for funding from the DFAT Stronger Systems for Health Security call for research under the Indo-Pacific Centre for Health Security.

The objectives of the research call are:

  • to support high quality and collaborative health systems and/or policy research that contributes evidence to strengthen regional health security, in particular in Southeast Asia and the Pacific
  • to promote translation of that research into health policy and/or practice in the region
  • to increase the capacity and expertise of research institutions in the region in health systems and/or policy research related to health security, and
  • to contribute to the growth of Australian researchers’ experience of, and expertise in, health security issues in the region, for the benefit of Australia and the region.

How to Apply

The NHMRC’s Research Grants Management System (RGMS) must be used to access/update your profile and CV and to submit your application. If they have not already done so, applicants are advised to obtain an RGMS log on and commence their profile and CV.

Applicants who are not yet registered in RGMS should contact the Research Help Centre by emailing help@nhmrc.gov.au for more information.

A complete application must consist of the following:

  1. Completion of Parts A and B of the application form (including the Grant Proposal pdf), and
  2. The relevant information in your RGMS profile and CV.

Prior to submission of an application for funding from DFAT, applicants need to ensure they have:

  • Read all relevant reference material (including addenda which, if posted, will be available on the Business Notifications page of the DFAT website), and
  • Liaised with their Administering Institution to identify any specific requirements that the Institution might have.

Completion of Peer Review

DFAT makes offer(s) to preferred applicant(s)

Applications submitted for this call will be peer reviewed by NHMRC and outcomes of the assessment process provided to DFAT for a funding decision for the Stronger Systems for Health Security call for research.
