G10. Other Fellowships

G10.1 R. G. Menzies Fellowship

The NHMRC/R.G. Menzies Fellowship is awarded in partnership with the Menzies Foundation.  The Menzies Foundation provides funds in addition with those from NHMRC, and is limited to applicants in the Overseas Early Career Fellowships category.  It is awarded to the highest ranked candidate from this category who the Menzies Foundation judges to best represent qualities of leadership ability, both proven and potential, who contribute to the life of their University or Institution, and who have demonstrated a commitment to and interest in service to others.  Applicants indicate their desire to be considered for this award by completing the details requested after selecting the R.G. Menzies option on the online RGMS application form.

G10.2 Frank Fenner Early Career Fellowship

This award is named to honour the achievements of Professor Frank Fenner (1914-2010).  The Frank Fenner Early Career Fellowship will be awarded to the highest ranked applicant from the Biomedical or Public Health Early Career Fellowship category whose research focus is in an area of international Public Health application, and best reflects the qualities exemplified in Professor Fenner’s career.

Note: This Fellowship does not provide any additional funding to the Early Career Fellowship package.

G10.3 Bernie Banton Fellowship

NHMRC has established the Bernie Banton Fellowship as an annual Fellowship to
commemorate the life of Bernie Banton through supporting health and medical research that has the greatest potential to make an impact on the treatment of mesothelioma. To be eligible to apply for this fellowship, an applicant should be working in the field of mesothelioma and asbestosis. The fellowship will be awarded to the highest ranked, funded applicant, who is undertaking research in this field.

Note: This Fellowship does not provide any additional funding to the Early Career Fellowship package.
