Targeted Call for Research: National Network for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health researchers

This TCR aims to bring together Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health research groups and their support networks to create a structure that builds capacity and improves the capability of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health researchers.

The call for expression of interest (EOI) is now open and will close at 5pm AEDT on Wednesday, 12 February 2020.

Please see the NHMRC website for more details.

Ideas Grants 2020 Update

Invitations for 2020 peer review

Invitations to participate in the 2020 Ideas Grants round are currently being sent. NHMRC encourages members of the research community to contribute their expertise to the peer review process. Further information on NHMRC peer review, will be sent to invitees in the coming months.

The appointment of an invitee to an Ideas Grant Review Panel is dependent on the results of the conflict of interest and suitability survey which invitees will undertake in May 2020.

Investigator Grants 2020 Update

The Investigator Grants 2020 round closed for applications on Thursday 28 November 2019 with 1,780 applications submitted and progressing to peer review.

Potential peer reviewers completed their Conflict of Interest (CoI) and suitability declarations within RGMS in early December.  This process involved over 400 researchers submitting more than 70,000 declarations over a two week period.

NHMRC would like to thank all researchers involved for their contributions to this important process in the lead up to the holiday period.

Based on these declarations, and with the aim of minimising CoIs and maximising suitability, NHMRC are now creating panels of five peer reviewers to assess groups of 25-35 applications ahead of assessments commencing early February.

Synergy Grants 2020 Update

The Synergy Grant scheme for funding commencing in 2021 is scheduled to open 26 February 2020. Minimum data is due 25 March 2020 and applications close 22 April 2020.

Invitations to participate in the peer review of the 2020 round have been sent. NHMRC encourages members of the research community to contribute their expertise to the peer review process. Further information on NHMRC peer review will be sent to invitees in the coming months.

The Partnership Projects scheme in 2020

The Partnership Projects scheme will have two peer review cycles in 2020 during the transition to NHMRC’s new grants management system, Sapphire.

  • Peer review cycle 1 will open for applications on 25 March 2020 and close on 13 August 2020.
  • Peer review cycle 2 will open for applications on 30 July 2020 and close on 2 December 2020.Open MRFF grant opportunities
