Funding Round Announcements

On Saturday 7th December 2019, the Hon. Greg Hunt, Minister for Health, announced NHMRC funding outcomes for several 2020 grant opportunities, including three new Grant program schemes (Ideas Grants, Synergy Grants and Clinical Trials and Cohort Studies Grants).

An RAO Alert was released on Monday 9th December to advise the embargo of outcomes has been lifted.

A full list of grant recipients is now available on the NHMRC website.

New Program Outcomes

Following the grant outcomes announcement on 7th December 2019, factsheets have been published for Ideas Grants, Synergy Grants and Clinical Trials and Cohort Studies Grants. These factsheets provide key statistics on the 2019 round outcomes of each scheme (the factsheet for Investigator Grants was published in August 2019). [outcome factsheets]

Investigator Grants 2020 Update

The Investigator Grants 2020 round closed for applications on Thursday 28 November 2019 with 1,780 applications submitted and progressing to peer review.

Potential peer reviewers are currently in the process of completing their Conflict of Interest (CoI) and suitability declarations within RGMS ahead of assessments commencing in 2020.

Based on these declarations, and with the aim of minimising CoIs and maximising suitability, NHMRC will create panels of five peer reviewers to assess groups of 25-35 applications.
