RGMS Browser Issue
Recent RGMS 'Unable to communicate to the PPM server' errors have been reported.
A recent update to Google Chrome has caused a number of issues when using RGMS. When using Chrome build 83.0.4103.61 you may encounter multiple or persistent PPM Error notifications. The problem is also affecting Microsoft Edge Chromium based builds including 83.0.478.44.

Resolution - If possible please upgrade your version of Chrome to 83.0.4103.97 (and higher) or, if you are using Microsoft Edge, 83.0.478.45 (and higher).

Ideas Grants Closing
The close date for Ideas Grants is 5:00pm AEST Wednesday 17 June 2020.

NHMRC strongly recommends those applicants who have not already submitted work with their RAO to submit their applications as soon as possible, to allow time to resolve any issues that may arise during the certification and submission process.

Open MRFF grant opportunities
The following MRFF grant opportunities are currently open for applications.

  • Coronavirus Research Response - 2020 COVID-19 Mental Health Research Grant Opportunity. The application due date for this grant opportunity is 13 July 2020, with Minimum data due on 1 July 2020.
  • Coronavirus Research Response - 2020 COVID-19 Immunological Studies Grant Opportunity. The application due date for this grant opportunity is 23 July 2020, with Minimum data due on 9 July 2020.

Updates to the Australian Pregnancy Care Guidelines
The Department of Health (the Developer) has released updates to the Australian Pregnancy Care Guidelines for public consultation until Friday 17 July 2020. This consultation is seeking feedback on the topics of nutrition, nutritional supplements, physical activity and weight assessment and monitoring.

The Developer will be seeking NHMRC approval of the guideline under section 14A of the National Health and Medical Research Council Act 1992.

Invitation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clinician researchers to participate in telephone interviews
NHMRC has contracted ORIMA Research to conduct interviews with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clinician researchers and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander medical students who are interested in becoming clinician researchers. The telephone interviews will last up to an hour and will explore the enablers and barriers that participants have experienced when pursuing or considering a career as a clinician researcher.

Recruitment will start from Monday 15 June and interviews will begin on Monday 6 July.

Results from the Survey of research culture in Australian NHMRC-funded institutions released
Ensuring the highest quality and value of NHMRC-funded research is a priority for NHMRC. The results from the survey provide a valuable insight into the research culture in NHMRC-funded institutions, which is critical to supporting high quality research. The survey results can be used by institutions and researchers to inform their initiatives for supporting the conduct of high quality research.
