The aim of the Women in Science Working Committee is to gain a better understanding of the issues that face women researchers in health and medical research in terms of career progression and retention to enable NHMRC to identify mechanisms that could be implemented to overcome these hurdles.
The group proposes to identify several issues including:
- How the statistical profile of women in NHMRC’s funding profile compares to women funded by other granting bodies?
- Why women leave research and why there is a gender gap in health and medical research?
- How NHMRC can assist in redressing the gender imbalance?
