NHMRC 2007 Annual Report

Historically, the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) has reported on its performance on a calendar year basis. When the NHMRC was established as an independent statutory agency on 1 July 2006 its reporting obligations also changed and the agency is now required to report against a financial year framework.

The reporting period described in the last NHMRC annual report ended on 31 December 2005. The new NHMRC Act required the 2006-07 Annual Report to also include the period starting 1 January 2006 and ending 30 June 2006.

The 2007 Annual Report is thus significant, as it examines the performance of the NHMRC during a period of structural transformation and records the achievements of the agency during the 18 month period ending 30 June 2007. The report also provides up to date information on the functions, structure and strategic direction of the NHMRC.
