Synopsis of publication:

The basic objective in the field of air pollution control is to restrict the concentration of pollutants in the ambient air to such levels as will not adversely affect the health, well-being or welfare of the community.

Many factors, such as climatic conditions, dispersion, dilution by the use of tall chimneys and the mass of emission, determine the concentration of air pollutants in the general environment.
