Synopsis of publication:

NHMRC hosted a national workshop entitled 'Developing a health based methodology for setting ambient air quality standards' in July 2006. This was in collaboration with the Department of Health and Ageing and the Environmental Health Committee (enHealth), and aimed to develop a health hazard assessment approach to guide the development of setting standards for ambient air quality in Australia. This Report 'Ambient Air Quality Standards Setting: An Approach to Health Based Hazard Assessment' is the outcome of the workshop. It is being used to inform the Environment Protection and Heritage Standards Setting Committee and the National Environment Protection Council (NEPC) in its process of reviewing the National Environmental Protection Measure (NEPM) for Ambient Air Quality, due to be finalised in 2008.
