Synopsis of publication:

The Systematic Literature Review on the Detection, Diagnosis, Management and Prevention of Glaucoma reports the current best evidence for the diagnosis, risk assessment and management of individuals with glaucoma.

The review brings together the evidence currently available on the detection, diagnosis, management and prevention of glaucoma, in order to provide current best-evidence recommendations to guide current primary care practitioners and policy-makers, with respect to the detection, diagnosis, management and prevention of glaucoma. Glaucoma is a recognised chronic degenerative health problem world-wide expected to affect 60.5 million people of all ages by 2010.

The review will form a scientific basis for the work on the glaucoma guidelines, which is currently underway as a joint project between the Department of Health and Ageing and the National Health and Medical Research Council.
