Synopsis of publication:

This publication summarises the evidence currently available to assist health professionals in the management of acute pain. The field of acute pain medicine is a rapidly changing one. New information arising in areas considered to be of importance will be posted periodically on the website of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (http://www.anzca.edu.au/resources/books-and-publications). This information will not yet have been approved by the NHMRC but will be included, as appropriate, in future editions of the document.
