Fight Flu 2008 campaign launched 25 Feb 08
The 2008 Fight Flu campaign aims to increase influenza immunisation in at risk groups under 65 years of age and in health care workers.

Four new leaders in Australian healthcare celebrated the completion of their NICS Fellowships at their graduation ceremony held Thursday 27 September in Melbourne, benefiting areas as diverse as rural emergency care, paediatrics, mental health and renal medicine.

First NICS Scholar tackles chronic heart failure in the bush
Dr Robyn Clark, a nurse from South Australia and the first National Institute of Clinical Studies (NICS) Scholar, has completed the only national mapping of chronic heart failure management programs in Australia.
She found some serious gaps in service provision as well as a few surprises which offer real benefits to disadvantaged people in rural and remote areas suffering from chronic diseases.
The NICS PhD Scholarship program was developed by NICS and Robyn's scholarship was supported by the Heart Foundation.

2 May 2006. NICS fights flu in 16 languages: NICS has developed the website, www.fightflu.gov.au to help increase flu vaccinations amongst ‘at risk’ groups under 65 years of age. The site contains information in 16 community languages to help people from different cultures recognise if they are at an increased risk of flu this winter.
12 May 2006. 2007 NICS fellowship awards open: NICS in partnership with key health organisations, is inviting applications for its 2007 Fellowship Awards.
26 May 2006. Using Guidelines symposium offers $1,000 for best abstract: health professionals with insight into implementing clinical guidelines could win $1000 if they submit an abstract to the Using Evidence: Using Guidelines Symposium held in Melbourne on 19 and 20 October 2006.

15 March 2006. NICS to host guidelines symposium: NICS will host a major symposium on implementing clinical practice guidelines on 19 and 20 October at Melbourne’s Langham Hotel.

6 February 2006. NICS funds two ‘gap buster’ networks $400,000: NICS announced it will fund two clinical networks a total of $400,000 over two years to close important evidence-practice gaps and improve heath care.
