What are the characteristics of health care organisations that promote innovation and the uptake of evidence? In this 2003 review NICS commissioned the Health Management Group at La Trobe University to identify the hallmarks of excellence in both healthcare and unrelated industries, and to discover the strategies that are available to change a health care organisation’s capacity to deliver evidence-based care.
The review identified the key prerequisites (goal setting & feedback, leadership & human resource management), enablers (climate & culture, structure) and drivers (organizational learning & knowledge transfer, quality management, training & development) of high performance organisations.
Note - this review is over three years old and is no longer considered current by NICS.
