» Interventions to improve uptake of venous thromboembolism prophylaxis in hospitals
This 2003 literature review was commissioned by NICS and undertaken by the Australian Safety and Efficacy Register of New Interventional Procedures - Surgical. The review looks for strategies that have been effective in increasing the appropriate use of pharmacological and mechanical measures to prevent venous thromboembolism in hospitalised patients, and secondarily, whether there is information on the cost effectiveness of such strategies.

This 2005 report was commissioned by NICS and undertaken by the School of Population Health, University of Western Australia. The review was undertaken as part of the NICS venous thromboembolism prevention program and was commissioned to inform the process of development of an intervention likely to be effective in changing clinical behaviour to be more in line with clinical practice guidelines’recommendations.
