Minor amendment to the Clinical Practice Guidelines Antenatal Care: Module 1

The National Health and Medical Research Council has approved a minor amendment to the Clinical Practice Guidelines Antenatal Care: Module 1 and the NHMRC CEO has approved this amendment under section 14A of the National Health and Medical Research Council Act 1992 (NHMRC Act). The guidelines provide evidence-based recommendations for the care of women in the first trimester of pregnancy. NHMRC congratulates recipient of Science Minister’s Prize for Life Scientist of the Year

NHMRC congratulates Dr Mark Shackleton on being awarded the $50,000 Life Scientist of the Year prize which was presented by Science Minister Chris Evans today at Parliament House in Canberra. Dr Shackleton, who works at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, has been recognised for his work on breast cancer and melanoma that is transforming our understanding of how cancers grow and resist treatment. CEO congratulates recipient of GlaxoSmithKline Award for Research Excellence

NHMRC congratulates Professor Chris Goodnow for his GlaxoSmithKline Award for Research Excellence to further develop his world-leading research on the cause of autoimmune diseases. Statement from the Australian Institute of Health Welfare (AIHW) on the release of Cause of Death Unit Record Files data

After a series of negotiations, a newly formed Australian Coordinating Registry Data Management Assessment Group recently reviewed AIHW responses to Registrars and endorsed all categories of the AIHW use of data described in their application. The QLD Registrar advised on 31 May 2012 that all Registrars agreed to the terms of the AIHW application and agreed to provide data on 1 June 2012 (the latest versions of the data for 2006–2010).
