The close-down of RGMS since 5 pm yesterday has allowed our service providers to conduct more detailed tests on RGMS. Potential causes of the software problem have been identified, using the RGMS logs of researcher login history.
We will know more about the progress with potential solutions late this morning and will be able to issue another bulletin in the next 6 hours or so.
I can assure you that there have been no issues with the RGMS application itself. The problems have been with the researcher application interface. All of the data in the system, including CVs and the 3,500 applications already started this year, are safe.
I apologise again, on behalf of the NHMRC, for the frustration that has been experienced by the research community and the interruptions to plans and family life that may have resulted from RGMS's performance.
I would like to assure you all again that, regardless of the outcome of the testing conducted today, no researchers wanting to apply will be prevented from doing so because of RGMS researcher interface problems.
Fellowship applicants have been given an extension until 22 February to complete their applications. This afternoon, I will be able to advise you all about the steps that NHMRC will take across all currently open schemes to assist applicants.
