Australian and New Zealand Clinical Trials Registry (ANZCTR) Advisory Board

Consumer Representative

In June this year the Australian and New Zealand Clinical Trials Registry (ANZCTR) was established at the University of Sydney with funding from the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC). The ANZCTR has been well received by the community and to date over 600 clinical trials have been registered. Details of registered clinical trials can be viewed on the ANZCTR website www.actr.org.au

The NHMRC and the Therapeutic Goods Administration now wish to establish an Advisory Board to provide policy advice on the further development of the ANZCTR. The membership of the Advisory Board will ensure high-level stakeholder engagement in this nationally significant project.

Applications for the position of Consumer Representative on the Board are invited from suitably qualified individuals.

The role of the consumer representative will be to bring a health consumer’s viewpoint to the deliberations of the Advisory Board. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will have extensive clinical trials experience and be able to represent the views of patients and other consumers of health services.

The time investment required from members of the Advisory Board will be modest. It is currently envisaged that there will be up to two face to face meetings and up to six teleconferences per year (this is the maximum commitment envisaged – the average time should be less especially after the first year). Appointments are for a period of three years.
