NHMRC Bibliometric Report
An independent bibliometric study conducted by the Australian National University (ANU) has shown that research projects funded by NHMRC have citation rates well above the Australian average.
NHMRC funded research accounts for a significant number of the country’s most highly cited journal articles with 2.4 per cent of NHMRC supported research outputs in the top one per cent of the most highly cited biomedical publications.
These studies, previously conducted in 2001, 2003 and 2005, have been used both within NHMRC and externally to illustrate the high quality of the publication output in health and medical research that comes from NHMRC and Australia as a whole.
Copies of the report are available on the NHMRC website
Third edition of Acute Pain Management: Scientific Evidence
NHMRC has recently approved Acute Pain Management: Scientific Evidence Third Edition (2010), developed by the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA).
The aim of the document is, as with the first two editions, to combine a review of the best available evidence for acute pain management with current clinical and expert practice, rather than to formulate specific clinical practice recommendations.
The publication can be viewed on the ANZCA website or NHMRC website.
Public consultation on draft Clinical practice guidelines for depression and related disorders in the perinatal period
Beyondblue: the national depression initiative developed the Clinical practice guidelines for depression and related disorders (anxiety, bipolar disorder and puerperal psychosis) in the perinatal period (the draft Guidelines) with an Expert Advisory Group chaired by Professor Marie-Paule Austin.
NHMRC has provided methodological support through the Guideline Assessment Register Consultant. The draft Guidelines contain systematically developed recommendations and summarise published evidence on key areas of perinatal mental health care.
Public Consultation runs until 12 May 2010. The draft is available on the Beyond Blue website.
