Australia and Europe to research HPV link to skin cancer
Australian and European researchers will collaborate in determining whether the virus most commonly associated with cervical cancer, Human Papilloma Virus, also plays some role in the development of non-melanoma skin cancer.

New South Wales researchers to receive federal funding for projects into 'Healthy Ageing'
Researchers at the Children's Medical Research Institute and the Anzac Research Institute, in New South Wales will receive a total of $465,000 in Federal funding over three years, to study the genetics of cellular ageing and geriatric pharmacology.

Queensland researcher receives federal funding for research into neurodegenerative disorders
Professor Annette Dobson from the University of Queensland, will receive $124,705 in Federal funding for research into neurodegenerative disorders, under the National Health and Medical Research Council's Strategic Healthy Ageing Program.

South Australian researcher receives $240,000 for osteoarthritis research
The Federal Minister for Health and Ageing, Senator Kay Patterson, today announced that South Australian researcher, Associate Professor Nick Fazzalari, from the University of Adelaide, will receive $240,000 over 3 years to study osteoarthritis in a rapidly ageing population.

Indigenous health, cancer, asthma, cardiovascular disease and mental health - big winners in $150 million funding of new research
Funding for Indigenous health research projects has doubled and increased spending on national health priorities, such as asthma, cancer and mental heath, are part of the Federal Government's new $150 million research funding package.

New South Wales to receive more than $35 million in research funding
A total of 102 health and medical research projects in New South Wales, including efforts to develop a tuberculosis vaccine; new ways to target toxic drugs into cancer cells; and treating multiple sclerosis by transplanting stem cells, will receive more than $35 million in research funding next year.

Western Australia to receive more than $14 million in research funding
A total of 42 health and medical research projects in Western Australia, including efforts to develop a blood test for mesothelioma and identify the genes involved in the development of childhood brain tumours, will receive more than $14 million in research funding next year.

Australian Capital Territory to receive more than $7 million in research funding

New Statement to strengthen partnership between consumers and researchers
The Statement on Consumer and Community Participation in Health and Medical Research has been developed jointly by the Consumers' Health Forum of Australia (CHF) and the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC).
