Using the National Statement 1: Payments to participants in research, particularly clinical trials
The National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research (2007) recognises that sponsors, investigators/researchers, institutions and HRECs all have relevant responsibilities. This advice Using the National Statement 1: Payments to participants in research, particularly clinical trials is designed to clarify the responsibilities of all parties. The advice poses questions for consideration to better inform researchers’ and HRECs’ as to whether or not payment (monetary or in-kind) for participation in research is ethically acceptable.

NHMRC Position Statement: Monitoring and Reporting of Safety for Clinical Trials
The National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research 2007 recognises that sponsors, investigators/researchers, institutions and HRECs all have relevant responsibilities. This Position Statement, which replaces the HREC Alert of 18 April 2007, is designed to clarify the responsibilities of all parties in relation to reports of adverse events (AE), including serious adverse events (SAEs) and suspected unexpected serious adverse reactions (SUSARs), occurring in clinical trials for which institutions are responsible and the Human Research Ethics Committees (HRECs) have reviewed and given ethical approval.
