Information on Publication Status

A description of the status types used for NHMRC publications.

Current

Current publications are publications that represent the Council's position on the matters contained therein. This means that the Council endorses, supports or approves these publications.

Historical / Historical reference only

Historical publications are publications and reports of past significance. They are never Rescinded as they do not get out-dated: they are representative of a specific time period and have ongoing usefulness as reference document and case studies.

Rescinded / Revoked

Rescinded publications are publications that no longer represent the Council's position on the matters contained therein. This means that the Council no longer endorses, supports or approves these rescinded publications. As amended in the National Health and Medical Research Act 1992 on 1 July 2006, the term Revoked replaces the previous rescinded, with the same effect.

Under review

The publication is out of date but the issue is still important. Either the NHMRC or an external agency is currently revising the publication.

Under assessment for currency

The publication is currently being assessed for currency and relevance. A possible outcome of this assessment is that publication will be rescinded. As part of the assessment process, the publication is subject to public consultation, whereby the public is invited to make submissions about the currency of the publication.

Under rolling revision

The publication, or parts of the publication, are continually updated to take into consideration new scientific evidence.
