Synopsis

This book brings together for the first time Australian information and studies in adolescent mental health. The authors outline the challenges facing those involved in service provision in areas such as child abuse, incest, adolescent suicide, adolescents in custody, alcohol and drug use and psychiatric impairment. The views from the author identify gaps in our knowledge and service provision and outline areas requiring further research.

This book has been published by NHMRC to promote public debate and broaden our understanding of the nature of adolescence in Australia, its normal development and the variations in behaviour encountered.
