Synopsis
The NHMRC's publication 'National framework for environmental and health impact assessment' is the first comprehensive referenced document examining integration of Environmental Health impact Assessment (E&HIA) into Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
The final report is the product of a phased program of consultation conducted over a period of two years. Its main purpose is to identify a logical sequence of steps for E&HIA which are compatible with environmental impact assessment practice, and which address the issues, principles and problems underlying the implementation of environmental and health impact assessment.
This document will provide health and environmental authorities, industry, the public and local governments with valuable information on the integration of health impacts into planning and assessment processes for future developments.
