Synopsis

This document was developed in response to recognition of the growing need for further emphasis on the principles of Replacement and Refinement as they apply to the use of animals for the production of monoclonal antibodies.

The NHMRC Animal Welfare Committee has developed the following guidelines to assist institutional Animal Ethics Committees in the evaluation of applications involving monoclonal antibody production.

This document should be read in conjunction with The Australian Code of Practice for the Care and Use of Animals for Scientific Purposes.
