Synopsis
This report was prepared with the assistance of a working party established by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) with the following terms of reference:
- To review all available national and international data on the health effects of cyclodienes and alternative chemical termiticides.
- To review all available national and international data on the environmental effects of cyclodienes and alternative chemical termiticides.
- To review methods of termite control, with particular reference to the use of cyclodienes and alternative chemical termiticides and substitute control measures.
- In consideration of 1, 2 and 3 above and relevant social and economic issues, to outline the implications of the continued use of cyclodiene termiticides in Australia, and the implications, including research and development needs, of a policy favouring their withdrawal.
- To develop a comprehensive report for the September 1990 meeting of the Public Health Committee.
