Synopsis
Despite numerous advances in the field of medicine,the management of acute pain fails to be given appropriatepriority and acute pain is often not properly treated in avariety of clinical situations. Acute pain is defined hereas pain associated with actual or potential tissue damage,which is of recent onset and probable limited duration. Unlikechronic pain, which commonly persists beyond the time of healing,acute pain usually has an identifiable relationship to injury or disease.
