Synopsis
NHMRC was commissioned by the Department of Health and Ageing to develop national guidance on collaborative maternity care as part of the national maternity reform activities.
The Guidance provides information for women and maternity care clinicians about establishing and maintaining collaborative practice. Maternity care collaboration places the woman at the centre of her own care, while supporting the professionals who are caring for her. Such care is coordinated according to the woman’s needs, including her cultural, emotional, psychosocial and clinical needs. An accompanying brochure aims to provide specific information for women.
