Synopsis
The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) has approved three clinical guidelines on arthritis developed by the Royal Australasian College of General Practitioners (RACGP), namely:
- Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Non-Surgical Management of hip and knee Osteoarthritis
- Clinical Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Early Rheumatoid Arthritis
- Clinical Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis
The fourth and final guideline in the suite, the Clinical Guideline for the Prevention and Treatment of Osteoporosis in Postmenopausal Women and Older Men, has been submitted to NHMRC for approval and will be considered by Council at their next meeting.
The guidelines are intended to address issues around the growing incidence of arthritis and osteoporosis in the Australian population, and include evidence-based advice for the diagnosis and management of patients with these conditions.
Further information on these and other related documents is available on the RACGP website.
