The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) has released the draft Statement on Cancer Clusters for public consultation.
You are invited under paragraph 13(d) of the National Health and Medical Research Act (1992) to make a submission to the NHMRC about the draft Statement.
The Statement is intended to provide public health practitioners and the general public with information on the assessment and management of cancer cluster concerns.
The Statement incorporates points to consider in conducting a detailed investigation where that appears to be warranted. However, the statement is not a comprehensive manual on how to investigate a cancer cluster. There are several internationally recognised documents that would guide such investigations.

How to make a submission
Electronic submissions are strongly preferred. If this is not possible, please make your submission in writing (preferably typed or word processed) or on audio tape. Please include your name and address or phone number at which we can contact you if required.
In the submission please note the relevant page number/s that contain the issues on which you are providing comment. Please also provide complete references for any research articles you deem relevant that may not have been considered in the development of the draft Statement. All comments will be considered by the NHMRC.
Please note that your name and organisation may be listed in the final Statement unless you specifically request your details not to be published. Your submission may also be made available on the NHMRC website following the release of the final Statement. Please indicate in your submission if you wish for your submission to be de-identified or be kept confidential.
