It is NHMRC policy that all publications are assessed for currency and relevance at least at 5-yearly intervals. The following publications now need to be assessed.

The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) is Australia's peak body for the provision of advice on standards to improve individual and public health, the consideration of ethical issues in health and medicine, and fostering medical research in the interest of improving health standards for all Australians.
It is NHMRC policy that all publications are assessed for currency and relevance at least at 5-yearly intervals. The following six (6) publications now need to be assessed.
- Toxicity assessment for carcinogenic soil contaminants - 1999
- Clinical Practice Guidelines for the management of uncomplicated lower urinary tract symptoms in men (LUTS) - 2000 - 2nd Edition
- Effectiveness of nasal continuous positive airway pressure (nCPAP) in obstructive sleep apnoea in adults - 2000
- Nutrition in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples - An information paper - 2000
- Postnatal Depression: A systematic review of published scientific literature to 1999 - An information paper - 2000
- Joint Statement and recommendations on vitamin K administered to newborn infants to prevent Vitamin K deficiency bleeding in infancy (Booklet) - 2000
You are invited to make a submission to the NHMRC about the currency and relevance of any of the above publications. Submissions should address the following issues:
- the strengths and weaknesses of the existing publication;
- issues that have emerged since the publication of the document; and
- any other issues that you think are relevant to this assessment.
Your submission should be evidence-based and references, where appropriate, should be provided.
Following assessment, some of these publications may be withdrawn.
