Infrastructure Support

The Infrastructure Support funding group is aiming to provide funding to support the infrastructure required to complete health and medical research in Australia.

The funding types available under the Infrastructure Support funding group are:

NHMRC Enabling Grants

This scheme is designed to underpin the current NHMRC funding system by strengthening the research base in particular areas. It is intended to assist Australian researchers to continue high quality, world-class research by providing support for specific facilities and/or activities to enhance the national health and medical research effort.

NHMRC Equipment Grants

Funding provided annually specifically for the purchase of equipment. Funding is awarded on a pro rata basis, based on the proportion of competitive funding awarded to each University/institute/hospital each year.

NHMRC Infrastructure funding

Through IRIISS (Independent Research Institute Infrastructure Support Scheme) funding is provided annually for overhead infrastructure costs specifically for NHMRC accredited independent medical research institutes based on a proportion of competitive research funding awarded to the institute by the NHMRC.
