Infrastructure Support

The Infrastructure Support funding group is aiming to provide funding to support the infrastructure required to complete health and medical research in Australia.

The funding types available under the Infrastructure Support funding group are:

NHMRC National Health Research Enabling Capabilities (NHREC) Scheme

NHMRC has developed the National Health Research Enabling Capabilities (NHREC) Scheme to replace NHMRC’s Enabling Grant Scheme.

NHMRC Enabling Grants

This Scheme has been replaced by National Health Research Enabling Capabilities (NHREC) Scheme.

NHMRC Equipment Grants

Funding provided annually specifically for the purchase of equipment. Funding is awarded on a pro rata basis, based on the proportion of competitive funding awarded to each University/institute/hospital each year.

NHMRC Infrastructure funding

Through IRIISS (Independent Research Institute Infrastructure Support Scheme) funding is provided annually for overhead infrastructure costs specifically for NHMRC accredited independent medical research institutes based on a proportion of competitive research funding awarded to the institute by the NHMRC.
