Infrastructure Grants

This section of the site contains information about the sub funding types available under the NHMRC Infrastructure Grants funding type.

NHMRC Infrastructure Grants provide funding annually for overhead infrastructure costs based on a proportion of competitive funding awarded to the institute.

Infrastructure Grant types

The types of Infrastructure Grants available are described below.

NHMRC Enabling Grants

The NHMRC is conducting an evaluation of the Enabling Grants Funding Scheme  in early 2007. Decisions on the timing of further rounds of the Scheme will be made once the evaluation is completed.

NHMRC Equipment Grants

The NHMRC provides funding for Equipment Grants to support competitively funded medical research. The funding is allocated on a pro rata basis to administering Institutions according to their share of the total funding awarded by the NHMRC for research each year.

Independent MRI Infrastructure Support

Through IRIISS (Independent Research Institute Infrastructure Support Scheme) funding is provided annually for overhead infrastructure costs specifically for NHMRC accredited independent medical research institutes based on a proportion of competitive research funding awarded to the institute by the NHMRC.
