NHMRC – European Union Collaborative Research Grants

Grants commencing in 2010

NHMRC has a limited fund to assist Australian participation in projects selected for funding under the European Union's Seventh Framework Programme. Seven applications involving Australian researchers based in Australia have been chosen for funding by the European Commission and will be awarded funding by NHMRC commencing in 2010.

International Collaborative Research Grants

The International Collaborative Research Grants (ICRG) Scheme is a partnership between the Wellcome Trust, the NHMRC and the Health Research Council (HRC) of New Zealand. The total monetary award was AUD$29,204,420 over a period of five years, of which NHMRC contributed AUD$11,154,808.

Preventive Healthcare and Strengthening Australia’s Social and Economic Fabric Strategic Award

On 18 October 2006, the Minister for Health and Ageing, the Hon. Tony Abbott announced $9.7 million in funding for eight innovative projects focusing on social, economic and environmental factors impacting on the health and wellbeing of Australians.  The grants cover areas such as wellbeing in early childhood, obesity, breaking cycles of poor health and disadvantage, and environmental factors in disease prevention.
