Decision by NHMRC to upgrade Informed Filler for Macintosh OS-X only

The NHMRC upgraded to the latest version of Informed Filler for the Project Grant round (for funding in 2006). This version is to be used for the 2010 funding round for Project Grants.

During this upgrade it was found that:

  • The latest version of Informed Filler (4.02) is not backwards compatible with some of the older type operating environments used by some of the Research Administrative organisations surveyed (i.e. less than Windows 95);
  • Administrator privileges are required to install any version of Informed Filler in both Mac OSX and XP environments, however it was identified that the current version of Informed Filler 2.5 will not run in an OSX environment unless OS9 is operating in the background;
  • The survey identified some Research Administrative organisations that have a group of PCs or Macs with Informed Filler installed available to any researcher that may encounter problems trying to install the software on their individual machines.

Therefore the NHMRC will have a version of informed filler available this year for OS-X Mac Users. This version is only for an OS-X environment.
