Project Grants – Research of Strategic Importance

NHMRC supports competitive Project Grant applications, due by 14 March 2008, in areas of strategic importance to NHMRC as described in NHMRC Strategic Plan 2007-09.  In 2008, these include indigenous health, effective health care, complementary and alternative medicines, and drinking water quality.  Applications that address the 2006 WHO Research Agenda for Radio Frequency Fields are also invited for separate funding consideration through NHMRC Project Grants process.

NHMRC will advertise the opening and closing dates for the following schemes on 29 February 2008:

  • Capacity Building Grants
  • Centres for Clinical Research Excellence
  • Development Grants
  • Enabling Grants
  • Short Term Exchange Studies

NHMRC is committed to supporting indigenous health and will fund competitive grants that meet NHMRC criteria as advised by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health and Research Advisory Committee.

International Schemes

In addition to the above, NHMRC will continue to fund Australian participation through the following international schemes:

  • The European Union Seventh Research Framework Program
  • The Human Frontiers of Science Program
  • The European Molecular Biology Laboratory.

Application dates for international schemes will be notified on the above organisations’ websites.
