Training (Postdoctoral) Fellowships
Introduction
The purpose of NHMRC Training (Postdoctoral) Fellowships is to provide opportunities for Australian researchers to undertake research that is both of major importance in its field and of benefit to Australian health. Training (Postdoctoral) Fellowships provide a vehicle for training in basic research either in Australia or overseas (where appropriate), to enable Fellows to work on research projects with nominated advisers. Awards are offered to a limited number of persons of outstanding ability who wish to make research a significant component of their career.

The Training (Postdoctoral) Fellowship funding type includes the following categories:
Biomedical Overseas Fellowship
The purpose of this Training Fellowship is to provide full-time training in basic research within the biomedical sciences, both overseas and in Australia. These Training Fellowships are offered to a limited number of persons of outstanding ability who wish to make biomedical research a significant component of their career.
Clinical Overseas Fellowship
The purpose of Clinical Overseas Fellowships is to provide full-time training overseas and in Australia in the areas of clinical research, including the social and behavioural sciences. In considering these applications NHMRC will place emphasis on the applied value of the proposed research.
Public Health Overseas Fellowship
Public Health Fellowships aim to provide full-time training in public health research overseas and in Australia.
INSERM Exchange Fellowship
INSERM Exchange Fellowships aim to provide training in basic clinical or public health research within the biomedical sciences in France and Australia.

Australia-China Exchange Fellowship
This program aims to increase collaboration between Australia and Chinese health and medical researcher by supporting exchange between the two countries.
Biomedical Australian Fellowship
Biomedical Fellowships aim to provide full-time training in basic biomedical science research in Australia.
Clinical Research Australian Fellowship
Australian Clinical Research Fellowships aim to provide training, in Australia, in the field of clinical research, including the social and behavioural sciences.
Public Health Australian Fellowship
Public Health Fellowships aim to provide full-time training, in Australia, in the field of public health research.
Health Professional Research Training Fellowship
Health Professional Research Training Fellowships aim to provide part-time (50-70%) training for awardees who wish to combine their professional career development with a research Training Fellowship in Australia.

Australian Research Training Fellowships Part-time
Australian Research Training Fellowships aim to provide part-time training in biomedical, clinical and public health research including the social and behavioural science, in Australia, for awardees who do not have other research, clinical or practitioner responsibilities.
Primary Health Care Australian Fellowship
Primary Health Care Fellowships aim to provide full-time training in Primary Health Care research within the broader primary health care sector in order to develop and strengthen the Primary Health Care research and evaluation of workforce.
Training Fellowship for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Research
The purpose of this fellowship is to provide a vehicle for research training or training in areas of particular relevance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. The fellowships are to enable Fellows to work on research projects under nominated advisers.
Partnership Fellowships
These awards are offered through funding partnerships agreed between the NHMRC and each partner organisation.
