CJ Martin Overseas Biomedical Fellowship

The purpose of these Fellowships is to provide a vehicle for full-time training overseas and in Australia in basic research within the biomedical sciences to enable Fellows to work on research projects under nominated supervisors. Their aim is to encourage persons of outstanding ability to make medical research a career.

Eligiblity

To be eligible to apply, applicants must hold a doctorate in a health related field of research or have submitted a thesis for such by 31 December of the year of application. Applicants for the overseas fellowship should be actively engaged in research at the time of applying and not have more than two years postdoctoral experience from the date that the doctoral thesis was passed.

Applicants must be Australian citizens, or be graduates from overseas with permanent Australian resident status, not under bond to any foreign government. Applicants should provide a specific study plan within the clearly defined area, and organise affiliation with an overseas investigator/institution to carry out the study. The Biomedical (C.J. Martin) Fellowships are normally awarded for a period of four years, of which the first two are spent overseas and two years in Australia.
