Committees

The NHMRC has five Principal Committees and a large number of sub-committees, which oversee the NHMRC’s key areas of operation.

Council of the NHMRC

The functions of the Council of the NHMRC are:

  • to provide advice to the CEO in relation to the performance of his or her functions;
  • any other functions conferred on the Council in writing by the Minister after consulting the CEO; and
  • any other functions conferred on the Council by the NHMRC Act, the regulations or any other law.

NHMRC Review of Public Health Research

In March 2008 the CEO of NHMRC appointed a Public Health Research Avdisory Committee to review NHMRC funding of public health research (informally known as the Nutbeam Review)
